What RDVY is
RDVY screens on the financial capacity to keep raising a dividend rather than on the dividend itself. Companies qualify on dividend growth over the past five years, a payout ratio under 65%, and balance sheet measures including cash flow coverage of debt — the reasoning being that a payout is only sustainable if the business can fund it. The result is roughly 50 holdings, far more concentrated than any other fund here, and a fee that is around eight times SCHD's. Because it also distributes realised capital gains when the index rebalances, its year-to-year distributions are uneven and can fall.
Who it suits. Investors who want a concentrated, higher-conviction dividend portfolio and will accept both the higher fee and the irregular payouts.
